Clearcover Opens Our Chicago HQ

Written by Team Clearcover | July 18th, 2022

Clearcover's downtown Chicago headquarters has officially reopened!  For the first time in over two years, many Clearcover-ers are returning to the Loop, dusting off our ping pong table, and collaborating face-to-face.  While all team members have the option to reserve a desk at the office, Clearcover will remain a remote-first company and returning to the office is completely optional for all employees.

When, along with countless other companies, we were forced to close our office in March 2020, our existing technologies and processes for remote work allowed us to adapt quickly to having an all-remote workforce.  Since then, our team has tripled in size and all new employees have been hired and onboarded remotely.  As of this posting, over 60% of Clearcover-ers work outside of the Chicago area from their home offices in 30 states across the country. Clearcover co-founders, Kyle Nakatsuji and Derek Brigham lived in different cities when they formed and launched the company, so it's no wonder why we've continued to grow and find success as a remote-first company!

To ensure an easy and safe transition back to the office, Clearcover-ers follow a set procedure before they take the CTA to the Adams/Wabash stop.  24 hours before they plan to use the office, all employees reserve a desk space on the Officely app.  Desks are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and team members who regularly work in the office for three or more days per week have an assigned desk.  In addition, any employees who did not work in the office prior to March 2020 must request a badge from building security at least three business days before they plan to be in the office.  Finally, before they leave for the office, everyone completes a brief health screening.  When they've finally settled into their reserved desks, team members join the Officely Daily Slack Channel to connect and make lunch plans to grab hot chicken or poke at Revival Food Hall!

In addition to revisiting their favorite Loop eateries, Clearcover-ers who have returned to the office are meeting team members in person, many for the first time, and getting to know colleagues in other departments.  As Steven Cha, Director of Talent Acquisitions, shared, "After almost two years of being remote, getting to see my colleagues in real life was great! It's always great getting to put a name with a face, but it's even better to meet them in person! I'm looking forward to meeting more of my colleagues in person."  And HR Business Partner Michelle Fischgrund appreciates the option to come into the office on her own schedule. "I love the flexibility of going into the office when I want or working from home when I want, especially on bad weather days. It’s been so fun to meet not just the people I work with on a daily basis but people from other teams as well."

The office is open to Clearcover-ers from across the country when they find themselves in the Windy City.  Not only can they enjoy the views overlooking Chase Plaza and the heart of the Loop, they can take advantage of the Chicago Riverwalk or get a glimpse of The Bean within a 10 minute walk.

If you're ready to join a company that will allow you to continue working remotely while fulfilling your dream of following in Ferris Bueller's footsteps around Chicago, we invite you to apply for one of our open positions today!
