National Mentoring Day
At Clearcover, we value growth from within, and one way we support this is through our Future Summit Leaders program, hosted by our Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Council (EIDC). This mentorship program, which includes workshops, worksheets, mentoring sessions, and helpful resources to support leadership development, is all about fostering a diverse talent pipeline and building a community of employees who raise the bar, fuel innovation, and drive success throughout our organization. Within the last year, the EIDC has successfully launched two cohorts, each spanning 6-months and totaling over 30 participants.
As we celebrate National Mentoring Day on October 27th, we're proud to highlight this initiative, which aims to help our team members reach their full potential through mentorship, creating a culture of ongoing learning and development company-wide. Here's a glimpse into what some of our mentors and mentees have to say about their experience in the Future Summit Leaders Program at Clearcover:
Why did you join the Future Summit Leaders Program?
“I joined the Future Summit Leaders Program to develop my leadership skills and further expand my knowledge of the company to make me a greater asset. My desired outcome was to become a more effective leader, better my communication, view things from the perspective of my mentee, and network while accomplishing my goals and gaining recognition for my work. During the program, I gained this and much more,” said Dee Robinson, Senior Underwriting Agent
What has been the most impactful lesson or piece of advice from your mentor?
“The most impactful lesson I've learned from my mentor is the importance of effective communication within a team. It can be a real challenge working in a remote environment with other people who may have different communication styles, which makes it even more crucial to ensure you're communicating clearly. Intentional and effective communication is important not only for setting and meeting expectations but also for building trust and relationships within a team. Something as simple as hopping on a quick call, instead of sending messages back and forth, can make a huge difference,” said Dan Steinl, Lead Actuarial Analyst
What skills or knowledge have you gained through this mentorship experience?
“My mentor and this mentorship program have been an invaluable resource for me when it comes to communicating and collaborating more effectively with both my peers and leaders. Having a mentor as a resource to think and talk through ideas and scenarios has also been incredibly helpful, and has helped develop my professional skills in areas that I would not have considered otherwise,” said Jackie Joslin, Assistant Insurance Product Manager
What’s the most rewarding part of being a mentor?
“The most rewarding part of being a mentor is seeing how my unique experiences can truly benefit others, regardless of how much or little experience I have. Every individual brings different backgrounds and skills to the table, and sharing those insights helps both mentor and mentee grow. It’s fulfilling to see how we all learn from each other in the process,” said Michelle Cobos, Customer & Agent Success Manager
What’s the most valuable lesson you hope your mentees take away from the program?
“The one lesson I would want my mentee to remember most is the mentee/mentor relationship continues - I am here to continue to push you in the right direction, to bounce ideas off of and I am here to listen,” said Beth Rose, Senior Customer Advocacy Manager
What did you gain from your involvement as a mentor?
“Oftentimes, we share our legacy knowledge and mentor talent within our teams. It was really beneficial to be paired with a colleague outside of my department and share ideas. The relationship of mentor/mentee really works both ways. I gained a unique perspective and was able to leverage ideas and insights for process improvements. Our collaboration became a learning space for both of us and I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity,” said Jennifer Zeidler, Clearcover Head of Public Relations
