Posts from Clearcover's Recruiters Part 2: Meet Christina and Alex

Written by Team Clearcover | April 8th, 2022

At Clearcover, we're continuing to grow our team and currently have over 60 open positions across all departments.  As a remote-first company, we're fortunate to welcome new Clearcover-ers on board from across the country, and we strive to make our recruiting and hiring process as transparent and seamless as possible.

Last week, members of Clearcover's recruiting team described that process in a detailed blog post.  Now, we would like to introduce two of the recruiters you could meet once you submit your application for an open position at Clearcover.

In this post, Senior Technical Recruiter Christina Peterson and Recruiter Alex Craviotto share a little about their career backgrounds, their process for spotting an ideal candidate for a role, and how they know when they've found "the one" that will best fit an open position.

Christina Peterson, Senior Technical Recruiter

Please tell us a little about your background and how your career led you to Clearcover.

I graduated with a degree in Mathematics and realized I didn’t want to be an actuary or a high school teacher.  I started my career in consultative product sales and then moved into the agency side of recruiting/staffing, always technology focused.  In 2014, I made the move from agency to internal recruiting (aka talent acquisition), focusing on Analytics and Data Science for a large healthcare insurance company.  A few colleagues came to Clearcover, which is how I learned of the opportunity.  I started here in July 2021.

What is your typical workday like?

My typical work day usually consists of several scheduled phone interviews, hiring manager intake or update meetings, candidate follow ups, and proactive sourcing and reach out.

What is your process for spotting an ideal candidate for an open role?

It all starts with the intake call with the hiring manager to get a good understanding of the ideal candidate, not only technical skills/experience, but soft skills and personality fit as well.  Often I will also meet with team members to get their perspective and input on the ideal candidate.

What would you like candidates to know before they apply for an open role?

First, be yourself, be prepared, and relax.  Secondly, do some research.  Review the company website and job description and have some questions prepared.  Finally, if it's been some time since you've interviewed, go through your resume and think about some recent projects, successes and failures.  Be prepared to talk about them in detail.

How do you know when you've found "the one?"

This is going to sound crazy, but I just know.  It’s a gut feeling.  I can tell within the first 10-15 minutes if someone is going to be a good fit or not. No joke.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love the consultative parts of my job.  Internally, I work with hiring managers to understand the requirements of their open positions and dig in to really understand what makes a good fit on their team. I also work with candidates to understand why they are looking to make a career change and what’s important to them in their next opportunity to determine if I can provide that to them.

I love being a part of a positive, life changing decision.

Alex Craviotto, Recruiter

Please tell us a little about your background and how your career led you to Clearcover.

Before being a Recruiter, I was in sales for a couple of tech startups, one including an insurtech company. I got the opportunity to join Clearcover as a Customer Advocate, where I got to help customers and get to know our products. However, my ultimate goal was to be in recruiting, and Clearcover gave me the opportunity to just do that!

What is your typical workday like?

A lot of my day is spent on reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, prospecting on LinkedIn/Gem, touching base with candidates, along with having weekly syncs with the hiring managers.

What is your process for spotting an ideal candidate for an open role?

I go through all the resumes that come into our applicant tracking system system, along with prospecting for candidates on LinkedIn that fit the criterias for the role I’m recruiting for. It’s almost like shopping for that perfect black dress, but instead, we’re recruiting for the perfect candidate that has the qualifications we need for the role, along with knowing that they will be a fantastic culture add.

What would you like candidates to know before they apply for an open role?

I always get excited when candidates apply to our openings, especially when they have done their research on Clearcover and come prepared with reasons why this opportunity excites them. I also want the candidates to know that we review all resumes that come in, and will try to get back to anyone who applies within seven business days, if not before.

How do you know when you've found "the one?"

It’s similar to what I mentioned earlier in our process for spotting an ideal candidate for an open role. We know we found “the one” when the candidates hit it out of the ball park during their interviews with our hiring committee, have the qualifications and skill sets for the role, and will be raising the bar here at Clearcover.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Hands down what is top of the list for me is the people I work with every day. Whether it be the hiring managers I partner with or peers on my team, I can honestly say we each give it our all to make work an exciting and challenging place.

We would like to thank Christina and Alex for taking the time to introduce themselves and explain their processes for filling open roles at Clearcover with the most qualified candidates who will bring their unique skills and viewpoints to our team.

Next week, Clearcover's recruiting team will join us in one final blog post to offer job seekers tips on optimizing their resumes and LinkedIn pages, preparing for Zoom interviews, following up, and how they can stand out among all applicants for an open position.

If you're ready to speak to Christina, Alex or any other member of our recruiting team about your future at Clearcover, apply for one of our open positions today!
