Maintaining Our People-First Culture During the Pandemic
Like many companies, Clearcover has been operating as an all-remote company since the early stages of the pandemic. Today, with nearly two years of operating remotely under our belts, we can confidently say that our ability to grow and succeed as a (remote) organization is in large part due to our unwavering commitment to maintaining a people-first culture. Specifically, we've concentrated on two areas that are critical to fostering a people-first culture in a remote work environment: we put practices in place to ensure transparent, two-way communication with all Clearcover-ers and we modified our benefits to support working remotely.
Regardless of whether working remotely or in-office, effective communication is critical to a people-first culture, albeit more critical as a remote organization operating amidst a pandemic. To that end, we’ve increased the frequency with which we communicate, making changes such as hosting monthly All-Hands Meetings vs. Quarterly All Hands Meetings. We continue to ask for feedback from our people through semi-annual engagement surveys and quarterly pulse surveys. We’ve also implemented an anonymous “suggestion box” that is constantly monitored for activity. By taking action to responses gathered from all of these outlets we demonstrate our commitment to people-first. Recently, we invited all employees to participate in focus groups, enabling them to directly influence the future of recognition, growth and development, and team building at Clearcover. Empowering Clearcover-ers to direct their employee experiences as a result of open communication may be the epitome of a people-first culture.
In addition to prioritizing communication, we strive to ensure our employee happiness with benefits and perks that support remote work. Our benefits go beyond just medical, dental and vision insurance (though we do cover the majority of employees' medical premiums and one hundred percent of dental and vision premiums!). Some of the perks that come with being a Clearcover-er include:
Financial wellness (401K, stock options and annual bonus program)
Monthly, home- delivery snack program
Home office stipend
Clearcover's focus on employee happiness through perks, benefits, and open communication has directly led to recognition in several different workplace award categories. In the past year, Comparably has recognized Clearcover in several categories for small to mid-sized companies: Best CEO, Best Engineering Teams, Best Company For Career Growth, Best CEO for Diversity, Best Perks & Benefits, Happiness, Best Compensation, and Best Culture. In addition, we've made the lists of BuiltIn’s Best Places to Work 2021 and Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2021. Most recently, we've been included on Purpose's List of Chicago Companies with Best Benefits 2022.
While we appreciate all of the recognition, we know that we wouldn't be included on any of these lists without the support of a group of employees who feel heard and know that Clearcover's leadership strives to maintain their well-being and happiness. If you're looking to join a company that ensures communication and values your happiness and opinions, we invite you to apply for one of our 60+ open positions!
