Clearcover Goes Back to School

Written by Team Clearcover | September 21st, 2022

At Clearcover, we love a good contest!  From the July Step Challenge, to the Clearly Hacked hackathon, Movember fundraiser and more, contests allow us a chance to challenge ourselves and support each other as we strive toward a shared goal.  They also provide an opportunity to connect with our fellow Clearcover-ers across departments and around the country.  So when our People Team announced a contest to post our kids' 2022 back to school photos, Clearcover-ers were characteristically eager to participate!

The contest, announced in late August, encouraged all team members to post their back-to-school photos in our company-wide "Scrapbook" Slack channel.  Winners would be chosen based on the number of reactions to and comments on each post.

Clearcover-ers responded with over 30 posts that featured kids ranging in age from toddlers gearing up for daycare to teenagers reluctantly indulging their parents.  We shared photos of our young learners on front porches, at bus stops, and in front of their schools.  Siblings smiled together for the camera before leaving summer vacation behind and, in one clever post, a parent shared her sketches of teenagers who have banned her from posting their photos on social media. In addition to our own kids, some posts featured nieces and nephews, and one Clearcover pet even made an appearance, sporting his puppy backpack.

At the conclusion of the contest, two of the three winning posts featured twins!  In one post, sisters beamed on their first day of kindergarten and, in another, a brother and sister looked eager to begin third grade.  The final winner was actually a series of five photos of a stylish baby sporting a different look for each day of his first week at daycare.  His sneaker game, as one commenter noted, was especially strong.

More than winning bragging rights, this contest offered Clearcover-ers a chance to connect with others outside of their teams, departments, and regions of the country.  These opportunities are essential to maintaining our people-first culture, and we continue to interact with each other through our monthly All Hands Meetings, company-wide panels like those held during Black History and Pride months, mental health workshops, special-interest Slack channels including "Foodie," "Cinephile," and "Sportsball," Employee Resource Groups, and more.

If you're ready to find your place in a company that values connection and puts their people first, we invite you to apply for one of our over 30 open positions today!
